The last date for registration has passed.

Merit Badge University on Saturday, Aug 4th! 

Any T-shirts ordered 7/30/18 on may be late.  Several classes are already filled.  Those still open will show up in the registration window.

Registration 8:00-8:30am ~ Opening 8:40am   

Classes 9-12pm & 1-4pm     Lunch 12pm

Open to scouts from all over ~ Come as a unit or individually

Venture Crews, Posts, Ships welcome for the weekend event!

Local experts teaching classes with scout leaders in 3 or 6 hour sessions Registration online! 

Northwest Florida College AND Okaloosa County Emergency Operations Center

Cost is $15 per scout, includes MBU patch and meal deal (2 Hot Dogs, Drink and Chips)

Register as a troop or have your scouts register individually on district web page.  Prereqs are below.  Permission slips will be posted by June 15th.  1 full day or 2 three-hour classes. Pre-order t-shirts online, $15.

Please note: Attending class is not enough to get signed off for the merit badge.  Scouts should read the merit badge book to prepare for class, participate during class, and complete the requirement work in class.  Many are in depth classes requiring knowledge of the subject to complete requirements.  There may be items to complete outside of class, but we try to do as many as possible in the time allowed. Bring pen/paper.

Confirmed Full Day Classes:

Architecture - Ian Wright - Prerequisites #1 and #5, need field trip form and  transportation help from parents/leaders (email B Tierney)

American Heritage - Chris Cutler

Aviation - Robert Pacheco - Need field trip form and help with transportation

Emergency Preparedness - Chris Eliadis - Bring note showing First Aid MB is complete, pack individual and family gear per requirements and bring picture with list of what you packed. 

Environmental Science - Sabina Pennington - Pre-req 100-word essay on endangered animal

Fly Fishing - Club - Must be 12 years old; may bring your rod if you have one

Music - Dave Worn - Bring instrument

Nuclear Science - Mike Lindsay -  Must be 1st class and up

Personal Mngt - Charles West - Must be 1st Class and up - Extensive Eagle badge - The majority is reviewed in class, completed assignments marked off.  Scouts MUST turn in 1abc (all parts) to start class.  Suggested before or can do after: 2ab, 8a-d, 9a-e, 10ab.

Public Speaking - Michelle Wright - Pre-reqs #2 Prepare 3-5 min speech about anything using body language and visual aids. AND #4 Collect and organize information about a topic, prepare an outline, then write/practice/give an 8-10 minute speech

Welding - College instructors - Must be 13 years old and wear long pants / closed toed shoes
