What Makes a Trained Leader?
· Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers, regardless of their position. New leaders are required to take Youth Protection training before submitting an application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time the application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins. Youth Protection training must be taken every two years.
· Cub Scout leaders are considered trained when they have completed Fast Start Training; This is Scouting and the Cub Scout Leader Specific training for their position.
· Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters are considered trained when they have completed Fast Start Training, This is Scouting, Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills.
· Troop committee members are considered trained when they have completed Fast Start Training, This is Scouting and the Troop Committee Challenge.
· Venturing Crew Advisors, assistant Advisors, and crew committee members are considered trained when they have completed Fast Start Training, This is Scouting, Venturing Leader Specific Training and Outdoor Leader Skills.
· Sea Scout leaders and assistants are considered trained when they have completed Fast Start Training; This is Scouting, Varsity Scout Leader Specific Training, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills. |
